Compiz Updates
Compiz and all the Compiz Fusion component has been updated to the latest git checkout. New addition is Maze plugin that will let you kill away hours trying to get a ball through a maze inside the cube.
All around improvements to various plugins and settings managers, simple-ccsm is turning out quite well.
Please note that you do not mix X11:XGL and home:cyberorg repositories.
openSUSE Promo DVDs
Thanks to Martin Lasarsch, the man behind the openSUSE Promo DVDs, who has sent 300 DVDs for our VGLUG, if you happen to be in Baroda or anyone you know is here, get a copy collected. These are special DVDs and differ from the ones that can be downloaded as they have GNOME and KDE Live installable and also traditional installation modes.

This week all the hackers at various Novell facilities around the globe are free to work exclusively on whatever project they feel like.
Although I am not a Novell staffer, being part of the community I would be working on implementing LTSP5 on openSUSE 11. Here is the idea page with some basic information you would need in case you feel like participating
Check out http://planetsuse.org to find out what everyone is working on this week.

* Dennis “onestone” Kasprzyk announced the release of Compiz 0.7 , lot of improvements including multi monitor support. Look out for the openSUSE packages on the Build Service X11:XGL repository.
- Install compiz-kde4 package if you would like to use kde4-window-decorator
- There is now ‘compiz-decorator‘ shell script, that tries to guess the DE running and launch the decorator accordingly.
- Tons of new plugins: magnify, shelf, showmouse, mousepoll, new fishes in the cube, 3D plugin now in -extras package.
- Compiz packages are versioned 0.7 and fusion packages are 0.6.9_git080208
- This is a development release, it will be followed up by 0.8 stable release
* I will be away whole of this week, attending OSIWEEK at Bangalore, look me up if you are going there too. Hopefully I’ll get to meet all the great people behind Evolution and other cool software Novell R&D center in B’lore cook up.
* Did a very enjoyable workshops, one for VGLUG on Advanced Administration and another on LAMP stack and Joomla CMS for MSU Computer Center students.
