Making progress…
by marex, Friday, September 28th, 2007 @ 7:54 pm Comments (5)

So, it has been a busy week, but I was able to work a bit on simple-ccsm. You can actually already use it as settings manager, but the profiles are still missing.

What I implemented since the last post are the custom widgets for stars and desktop preview. Also I added a automatic settings rating system to score your animation and effect settings. My very lets says “minimalistic” animation settings (fade animation only) scores less then 2 stars (from 5 possible stars). It would be nice if I could get some feedback about the scores you archive with your settings to maybe adjust the values a bit.

Here are a few new screenshots of simple-ccsm for you:

I also added a build system to simple-ccsm so it should be quite easy to install it properly. The build system itself was ported from ccsm, which was mostely written by Guillaume.

You can clone the git repository of simple-ccsm with the following command:

git clone git://anongit.compiz-fusion.org/users/marex/simple-ccsm

In other news, lives goes along well. Holidays are near. ;-)

Simple is beautiful

As I already mentioned in my last blog post, I’m currently working on Simple-CCSM, a very simple end-user version of CCSM. I’m making nice progress and I hope I have something working within the next week. (Still, school keeps me busy)

The hardest part is still to come: Setting up some nice base profiles. We probably need 5 different profiles (”Low Effect”, “Easy to the eyes”, “Medium Effects”, “High Effects” and “Hollywood got nothing”)

And here are some screen shots of my recent work:

So…

Hey everybody. I finally got myself to continue my blog. :-) Thanks to Guillaume Seguin (”iXce”) for setting up the blog that fast.

First I would like to tell you a bit about what I’m currently working on. Well, I’m working on CCSM (Compiz Config Settings Manger) together with Guillaume to get an usable settings manager for so called “power users”. We plan to do a more simple version for the end users soon, so don’t worry. ;-)

In other news, we are currently prepairing for the 0.6.0 release which will be shipped in most major distributions. (Including Ubuntu, where its enabled by default wuhuu) For that reasons we are back porting importent bug fixes an improvements to the 0.6.0 branches. Which also means we need testers. That’s your chance to help us making 0.6.0 as stable as possible. So get the branches and submit correctly labeled bugs. Thanks!

In private live I’m currently busy at school. New school. New people. And yeah we have a lot of fun. :-)
